Description

  • The JSE Investment Challenge “Where are They Now?” campaign is a promotional competition conducted by the JSE Limited (“JSE”) in accordance with the terms of the Consumer Protection Act, No. 68 of 2008 and the Regulations promulgated thereunder, where applicable.
  • The JSE is conducting the competition to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the JSE Investment Challenge (“the Competition”).
  • Entrants to the Competition must have been previous participants of the JSE Investment Challenge and will be required to submit a submission containing the required elements listed below.
  • On 21 August 2023 3 (three) prize winners will be chosen by the JSE from the eligible entrants as per below.
  • The prize winner(s) will be contacted by the JSE (or its agent) after the conclusion of the Competition by means of an e-mail to the prize winner via the information provided for the submission in relation to the Competition. Should the JSE (or its agent) be unable to contact the prize winner after reasonable attempts to do so, the JSE (and its agent) reserves the right to award the winning prize(s) to the next prize winner decided in the Competition.

Prize

  • The prizes available in the Competition are:

First Prize
1 (one) Satrix voucher to the value of R5000.00
(five thousand rand)
The Judges will review the submission made by the participant based on the overall content of the submission and compliance with the submission requirements
Second Prize
1 (one) Satrix voucher to the value of R3000.00
(three thousand rand)
The Judges will review the submission made by the participant based on the overall content of the submission and compliance with the submission requirements
Third Prize
1 (one) Satrix voucher to the value of R2000.00
(two thousand rand)
The Judges will review the submission made by the participant based on the overall content of the submission and compliance with the submission requirements
  • There is no cash alternative to the prizes on offer and no cash payment will be made to the prize winners.

How to enter

  • Entrants will have to have registered and competed in the JSE Investment Challenge in the last 50 (fifty years);
  • The entrants must submit a submission, either in a video format (see the specifications below) or a written format (see the specifications below) which must contain all of the following elements:

o When (what year) they competed in the JSE Investment Challenge;

o What school/institution they were enrolled at when they entered the JSE Investment Challenge;

o A brief description of a highlight/occurrence that was happening in South Africa and in the markets when they participated in the JSE Investment Challenge;

o How has the JSE Investment Challenge impacted their life and future investment decisions; and

o What they are doing now from a career perspective

  • Only one submission into the Competition per entrant for the Competition will be allowed.

Video submissions

o The submission length must be 30 seconds or less;

o The submission must be in English;

o Submissions must be made to one of the social media platforms below where the JSE Investment Challenge has a presence and the tag “JSE Investment Challenge” must be present in the submission;

o JSE Investment Challenge social media platform presence:

Written submissions

o The written entry must be 500 (five hundred) words or less in length;

o The submission must be in English;

o The written entry must be submitted via email to the email address dedicated to receiving submissions for the competition ([email protected])

How the prize winners will be chosen

  • The highest ranking submissions will be chosen based on engagement on the social media platforms (such as views, likes, comments and shares), together with what the JSE (at its sole discretions) considers the “most impactful” submission;
  • The submissions will be narrowed down by the JSE to a list of top 20 submissions;
  • The prize winners will be selected by a panel of JSE appointed judges, who will adjudicate on the list of top 20 submissions at their sole and absolute discretion.

General

  • The promoter of this Competition is the JSE.
  • The JSE, its directors, employees, contractors, agents or consultants or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the JSE, or a supplier of goods or services in connection with the Competition, or the spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
  • The JSE will be entitled to publish the prize winners’ names (at no fee or consideration) on the www.jse.co.za website and/or Facebook and/or Twitter and/or Tik Tok and/or Instagram handles or any other social media platform of the JSE and the prize winners will not be required to endorse, promote or advertise any of the JSE’s products or services.
  • The JSE will adjudicate and decide upon any issues arising from or connected with the Competition, the prizes and the award of the prize. The JSE’s decision will be final and binding upon all entrants on all aspects of the Competition and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Due to the nature and target audience of the Competition, if minors are eligible for entry into the Competition then the consent of their guardian(s), where required, is to be submitted to the JSE upon request
  • The JSE, its directors, employees, contractors, agents, consultants and suppliers assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from any aspect of the Competition howsoever arising.
  • If required by the appropriate regulatory authorities or if the JSE in its discretion so decides, the JSE shall have the right to terminate the Competition with immediate effect without notice. In this event, all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against the JSE and acknowledge that they have no recourse or claim of any nature whatsoever against the JSE, its directors, employees, contractors, agents, consultants and suppliers.
  • Entrants and the prize winners indemnify the JSE against any claims of any nature whatsoever arising out of their participation in the Competition.
  • The prizes are not transferable and in the event that the prize is not acknowledged and/or claimed for any reason by 29 September 2023, the prize will be awarded to the next submission chosen by the JSE from the eligible entrants.
  • By participating in Competition, all entrants agree to these terms and conditions and agree that the Competition results are final in all aspects.
  • All personal information supplied on a submission be collected, used, shared, retained and otherwise processed by the JSE in accordance with the JSE Privacy Policy (available at (https://www.jse.co.za/privacy-policy) and applicable data privacy legislation. You understand, acknowledge and confirm that the above personal

information may be used by the JSE for purposes of marketing purposes in relation to investor and financial market education and that You may be contacted with details of future events and courses organised or promoted by the JSE that might be of interest to you.
